About Lou Ann

Lou Ann Goding is a lifelong Nebraskan who grew up near the small town of Loup City, where she learned the value of hard work, quality education, and service to the community. An Omaha resident since 1986, Lou Ann and her husband, Mike, raised their three sons here and sent them to public schools.

After a successful career in public accounting and private industry, Lou Ann stepped up to serve on the Omaha Public Schools (OPS) Board of Education from 2013–2020, including as Board President in 2015 and 2016. During her tenure, she championed student achievement, increased teacher pay, safeguarded tax dollars, and prioritized school safety.

As Board President, working with the Legislature, Lou Ann orchestrated moving management of the OPS pension fund to the State of Nebraska's professional staff who manages all the other state pension funds. This benefitted teachers, students, and taxpayers alike.

Lou Ann has also served on numerous community boards, including the Fullerton Elementary PTA, Children’s Hospital Friends Board, Educators Health Alliance, and as Trustee for the Omaha Schools Employee Retirement System. Most recently, she was appointed by former Mayor Jean Stothert to the Omaha Land Bank Board.

On the State Board of Education, Lou Ann will utilize her expertise and experience in the private sector and public education to improve our education system for all Nebraska students, families, and teachers.

As a former Board President of the largest school district in Nebraska, Lou Ann is ready to serve and contribute to improving the education of all Nebraska K-12 students.
